college essay number 21:If you had the gift of telepathy, the ability to read other people’s minds, would you use this gift or not? Explain.

When I was young, I always wanted to read people's mind. I was a curious boy, so wanted to know everything. I always wanted to know people's secret; it made me feel special. Every day, I was amused by my mother since she knew what I was thinking and I could never lie to her. I thought she had telepathy and I promised myself that one day I would learn to read people's mind. I had a weird dream like that since I was a child, but now I'm 16. I'm not old enough to be called a grown up and take care of myself, but I'm not too young to believe in superpowers and fairy-tales. I know that I would never have any superpowers, but still some days, I wonder if maybe in the future I learn some superpowers.
I would never tell people since I would look stupid, but life is full of mystery and nobody knows what will happen in the future. Even after saying this, I'm quite sure that I would never be able to read people's mind. But if I had the gift of telepathy, will I use it? If I had the choice to accept this gift or not I would not accept this gift. Even though I am always curious about what people are thinking, I do not think that I have the right to know people's secret without their permission.
I am also sure that if I get a power like that, I would never use it wisely and I will be hated by many people. There is always reason to why people don't share their secrets. If those secrets are revealed, some people will get hurt beyond measure and would never be able to face their friends the way they used to.
This is how I think right now since I do not have the power to read other people's mind, but maybe my opinion might be different if I was actually in the situation. People are always tempted to break rules and do something others are not happy with, but that is why human beings are special. Every individual person has so much power and I believe people do not need telepathy to live. People have the right to have their own thoughts and not share it with anyone. I hope it always stay like that so that nobody feels uncomfortable. So for me, telepathy would not be a gift I would want.
Also even though we humans deny it, we are selfish creatures and in the end we care about ourselves more than the others. It’s only in the movies where someone throw away their life for somebody else, but if you could survive if you left that person, I’m pretty sure 99.999% of the people will leave the person behind since they themselves don’t want to die. Even though that is our fault, we cannot really blame ourselves. After all we only get one life. Everyone to live to their fullest.

  1. Again, solid writing and a fairly interesting topic. So far I am unsure of what you theme is, but I do like that you are writing a fair amount and quite well. Again, use paragraphs.

I think that superpowers would be evil for people to have. Humans seem incapable of having power and using it well (except for a very few people)so the world would be too dangerous with super power if we can't handle regular power. What do you think?

  2. i think your'e exactly right the world is already evil enough as it is. but on the other hand it would be good to read other peoples mind to see what they said about you and fight them. lol
